Hello Members,
Just a question that I hope will generate a bit of response!! Are we as a society ready to take Personal Responsibility for our actions. Are we able to realize that we all have choices to make and NO ONE is responsible for those choices but ourselves?
Is it time for people to stop 'blaming their upbringing' on their behaviour?
Personally I am one of 13 children with an alcaholic father and a mother whom had at least 5 fathers for my siblings, but I chose another path becuase I saw that they were not happy. I feel my mother looked for love outside of herself all her life and my father chose to drink becuase he needed to escape from his own reality, now I might be wrong but that is how I saw it at a very ealy age and deliberately chose another path for myself.
By the way I sat at both my parents bedside when they each died and felt their unmistakeable love for me and I was able to return it.
From my learning over the many years I feel I chose those parents for a special reason, to teach me what I needed to learn and in that understanding I have never felt the VIICTIM. I have felt they were good teachers who taught me what I needed to know and I personally dont know what it cost their souls to play these roles for me and my siblings. Not all of us turned out the same, we each turned out a bit different but mostly honorable and loving people.
What do you think about this subject? I would really love some interplay on this subject!!
Peace and Love
rhonda.

Hi Rhonda
I too came from a family where alcohol played a large part in my family life, I find many of the people I have met on the same journey to live a fullfilled and loving life have come from a similar background. It took most of us a number of years to realize we were the lucky ones, not the victims and can be gratefull for the experiance, I think first hand experiance is the greatest teacher. I know the life I don't want ,and thank those that showed me this by living that life themselves. Everyone to some degree forms some of their values from their earliest teachers(parents) ,but given we all have free will you can and should make choices that are right for you.

I don't think society as a whole is taking responsibility, it is getting worse. I do feel however that the vibration is raising due to the amount of people now totally commited to their spiritual development.
People & places in our lives are our lessons.
I myself had a wonderful upbringing with two very dedicated & loving parents, but for reasons unknown to me, seem to attract addictive people into my life, I see each of these people as my lessons, and I do take responsibility for them being in my life. I have learnt so very much from the traumas they have caused & still do.
Bottom line is I can only worry about myself, for all those denying their responsibility, their time of reckoning will come, when mine does I want to be able to stand there with a smile, knowing I walked in honour with grace & courage....In light & love Sharon
To rise above this and lead the way for my beautiful children

After loads of typing in reply I must have pressed a wrong key or it was too long and wiped out. Will try another time to reply again to this important subject matter.

I work as a child witness protection volunteeer going through the court system with abused children and no I do not think society is ready to accept responsibilty for their actions, from what I see and hear in court and from talking to police etc, it is still a case of pass the buck, it is always someone else's fault that it happened. we really must begin to take a good look at ourselves and face up to our actions and our responsibilities.

Interesting question - I also believe that I chose my parents - my mother always felt like she was more interested in others than her family, however, I thank her and the universe daily for without both she and my father I would not have turned out the way that I did nor learnt the lessons that I needed to learn.
On the other hand - I have a beautiful 30 year old daughter - currently living in NZ who beieves that she is enlightened, however, up til now, has blamed all the things that have happened to her in her life on everyone but herself, absolutely no recognition of her part and choices in the outcomes of her life.
I have tried on a number of occassions to get her to see that her choices have led her to where she is both mentally and holistically, however, this is very slow going.
I believe that we as a race are currently at a turning point, that more people are opening up to the universe. I worry however that it is happening tooo slowly, that we are all still far too materialistic(myself included), that we do not do unto others as we wish done unto ourselves. This in itself provides the opportunity for the teachers amongst us to come forward, like yourself and offer your experiences up for others to learn from. I have just finished reading your blogs about your life and loved it - there were things in your story that resonated in me . . .
I personally believe that there is a lot of negativity and fear to overcome, placed there by bigots and dare I say it some of the larger religous orders, however, every year I see more and more acceptance and recognition of choices made and responsibilty acceptance that it gives me hope
